General

What does the name Zabbage mean, and how is it pronounced?

It doesn't mean anything in particular. For some reason, when we were kids, we used to replace the first letter of vegetables with a "z" and zabbage sounded the best!... it is therefore pronounced in the same way as the vegetable.

Can you explain what giclée printing is?

Yes. See the giclée page for a full explanation and further information.

Paper, Samples and Test Prints

How do I choose the right paper for my image(s)?

See the papers page for an at-a-glance comparison of our 10 papers by finish, material, weight, colour and texture. If you would like a paper recommendation for an image then please send it to us at info@zabbage.com, or via our WeTransfer channel, and we'll be happy to recommend suitable paper(s).

What is Baryta paper?

The term baryta derives from barite, or baryte, a mineral consisting of barium sulphate that is used in a light sensitive emulsion coating traditionally applied to fibre-based photographic papers ("the baryta layer"). Baryta paper for giclée printing is fibre-based paper with a baryta coating that is receptive to pigment ink, rather than sensitive to light, and gives the paper a light gloss. Baryta paper is often referred to as fibre-based or FB.

Do you offer paper samples?

No. Paper samples didn't prove cost effective for us (and they're often wasteful from an envrionmental point of view). Ordering a few small prints of your own work on papers of interest is what we advise.

Do you offer free test prints?

No. We advise customers to order small prints for any testing they require.

Image Files, Layouts and Uploading

What image file formats do you accept?

Accepted image file formats: AI, BMP, JPEG (JPG), PDD, PDF, PNG, PSD, PSP, TIFF (TIF).

What resolution do my images need to be?

300 dpi is the standard printing resolution but we can print at whatever resolution you require. See the image resolution section in the image guide page for further information.

Can you help with print layouts (e.g. resizing, cropping, borders etc.)?

Yes. See the digital image sizing and borders sections in the image guide page for details.

I would like some text printed in the border of my prints. Can you do this?

Yes. See the border text section in the image guide page for details.

How do I upload my digital image file(s)?

When you have completed your order use our dedicated WeTransfer channel to upload your images. Add your image file(s), enter your email address and specify any print layout instructions, e.g. custom paper size(s), borderless, border size(s) etc.

Prices and Volume Discounts

What discounts are available?

Automatic volume discounts are applied to our prices and are 20% less than the base price for 4-11 prints and 25% less for 12+ prints (per paper/paper size) and apply whether you are ordering prints from a single image or from multiple different images. See the prices page for the full price list and further information.

What payment methods do you accept?

Online payments accepted using VISA®, Mastercard® and Maestro® cards or with PayPal™. Transactions are processed by Stripe or PayPal™. Zabbage holds no debit/credit card information.

Shipping and Packaging

Can I have my prints shipped to a different address?

Yes. At checkout you can enter a different shipping name with the shipping address you want the prints delivered to.
